Day Sixteen - Coming Home
Wed, 11 Jun 2008 - 11:52 AM CST
The morning came awful quickly. After waking, everything was a blur. We seemed to bounce from tickets to passports to security to boarding our planes. It happened so quickly that we didn’t get any group parting shots. Sixteen days is along time to be away from home, and we were all ready to get back on familiar soil
and see our families. Perhaps the hardest part was seeing the team separate. In the last 16 days, we had grown very tight and truly become a team—a STL team that is jealous for you to see what we saw. There is not a one of us that hasn’t felt enriched and challenged by our time on the field.
Via planes, trains, and automobiles, we traveled through five countries, visited three Bible colleges, and met over 30 missionaries. One thing I’m certain of: we have some of the best missionaries in the world and are privileged to join them in the Great Commission.
Please know that our missionaries in Southeastern and Western Europe are being good stewards with their STL transportation and equipment. We didn’t meet one missionary meandering or
squandering their time and resources. Their intentionality of ministry and commitment to reach souls was pure inspiration. Time after time, though the wording varied, I heard missionaries tell me how they couldn’t do all that they were doing without STL. The countries of Europe are ripening for a harvest. We must not forget the souls, nor neglect our missionaries and their needs. Thank you for sacrificing and making STL a world-impacting ministry.
I’d like to give special thanks to Greg Mundis, the Assemblies of God World Missions Regional director for Europe. Without his support, this trip never would have happened. Our hats go off to each of our area hosts and new-founded friends: Kevin Beery, Gerald Branum, and
Kendall Reaves. Thank you for your time and commitment to see STL succeed. Lastly, I want to give out some “super props” to our home team (Monica, Tommy, and Ryan) and our families who ultimately made this happen. You’re the best!
On my way home,

Rick
"Over the last two and a half weeks, we have traveled over 11,500 miles, visiting with more than 35 of our Assemblies of God missionaries. With the international community evident in Romania, Bulgaria, France, Belgium, and Netherlands, the impact of these missionaries is global. It has been said, 'Touch Europe and you will touch the world.' This is accurate! It is tempting to perceive missions as applying only to third-world nations. However, God’s burden is that NONE would perish and that ALL would come to repentance..."
